The weather has been pretty awful for a while now but last weekend we actually had some sun! We had planned to see relatives in Kent but didn't, so instead I suggested we made the most of the weather whilst we could and we ventured out to Maldon.
It was fairly chilly but for the time of year, not too bad at all. On arriving we got some chips to share and then the monkeys had a quick play in the children's play area. We had a wonder around the quay, taking in the scenery and taking a look out at the very high water level in the River Blackwater. We'd never seen it so high!
On walking past the barges we stumbled across a fab barge that was kitted out for the winter months as a tearoom. Initially we walked past thinking it wouldn't be ideal to take the monkeys onto, but we had a change of heart and in we went. I'm so pleased we did! It was very busy and we struggled to find a table but it was warm, the cake was delicious and it was quirky! It would seem it was very popular too! A great find, and definitely somewhere we would like to go to again.
Once we had all had a drink and some cake, it was the monkeys turn to have some fun on the wooden galleon in the Park. They love it there. Big monkey had to be persuaded that the water park was closed with very good reason, but would have gone to play in there if he could! Children are funny aren't they! We had quality family time in the much needed sunshine.
