Recently Nana D turned seventy years young, so last Sunday we treated her to afternoon tea. We went to Ingatestone Hall in Essex. A wonderful house and home to the Petre family. Open to visitors and with a lovely tearoom, we were keen to get there and see what it was like! The weather was glorious, so exploring the grounds after a very scrumptious feast was delightful. I had never heard of Ingatestone Hall I'm ashamed to say and it was a real treat. The Petre family still live there and can be found helping in the shop and tearoom, and on the guided tours I believe.
Our afternoon was amazing and they were more than accommodating towards the monkeys, who had a more child friendly smaller version of our afternoon tea. I was seriously impressed with the monkeys behaviour at the table! We had finger sandwiches, mini quiches, cherry tomatoes and salad to start. Tea and coffee were also served. Next an array of pastries, mousse, cakes and chocolate covered strawberries! It was all so well presented and delicious. Very filling too. Nana D was thrilled. Here are just some of the photo's we took of Nana's special afternoon treat.
If you are ever in Essex and fancy afternoon tea, we can all highly recommend Ingatestone Hall.
I have not been asked to write this post, I'm sharing my thoughts on a fab place to visit and dine. This is not a review post or collaboration.
