Clarks-Back To School Shoes-Review

Going back to school can be very expensive, especially when your little ones are growing fast and their uniform and shoes need replacing! Big monkey has just gone back to school, into year 1. His uniform was getting too small and we needed to get him new shoes. Now I have to be honest, I had thought about a cheaper alternative but his dad and I agreed we much prefer his school shoes to be well made, long lasting and fitted properly.
This is where Clarks came in! We were fortunate enough to be asked if we would like to review the Back to School range? Hell yes, of course!
So armed with a £40 voucher, an appointment to have his feet measured and shoes fitted, we set off to get monkey some shoes. The range was quite extensive and there were lots of children being fitted for shoes but we were seen within 5 minutes of arriving for our appointment.
All Clarks school shoes pass up to 50 tests before hitting the stores. Big monkey had his feet measured by a friendly member of staff who asked his name and did the job in hand whilst chatting about how busy it had been. She offered us a choice of two different styles of shoe in the size his feet measured but they were too big. So after a look for them in a smaller size and fitting, which they didn't have, we tried another style. These ones have been treated with Agion. It "has been developed to eliminate odours and prevent bacterial and fungal growth. Eliminating 99.9% of all bacteria, our school shoes and sports footwear for kids with Agion are perfect for active kids" say's the tag. They fitted but were THE only style in his size that they had left. Being the day before the schools went back in our area I had thought about this, but big monkey seems happy with them and more importantly they have been fitted by trained staff and are also suitable footwear for a lad who will no doubt put them through their paces!

I strongly believe school shoes need to made from leather, fitted by a professional and be hard wearing so that they can withstand the everyday wear and tear they will get.

We were very happy with the service from Clarks and cannot foresee any issues with the shoes. Big monkey happily wore them to school when he returned yesterday.
Update-today we returned to Clarks as the shoes we got last week seemed too wide and the tongues kept creasing. I'd kept the receipt and wondered whether there would be a problem exchanging them/getting a refund. Luckily there was no such problem. The lady who served us was so accommodating and agreed they seemed too big. She offered us the same style shoe in a smaller fitting or a different style altogether. She actually bought out 5 other different styles for him to chose from, and was very through, making sure they fitted better than the original pair. This time, we opted for a Jack Nano pair and payed the difference.
*We were sent the voucher for these shoes by Clarks. All opinions and thoughts are my own*
