Celebrating Monkeys 6th Birthday

Six years ago a very cute little baby boy was born, now known as big monkey. He arrived at 38+2 weeks and changed our world for the better from the minute he was born.
Fast forward to last Friday when he celebrated his 6th Birthday. He woke early and excited! A school day, but we had plans. He had his presents and cards 1st thing, then armed with his birthday badge and sweets to share out with his classmate, off to school he went.
Later, after playing football at after school club, he returned to more presents and cards that had arrived in the day. We also showed him his fab birthday cupcakes, that I had had made. They went down a treat and that was before they were even eaten!
He and his friend, who had come for tea and to sleep over were very excited and had lots of fun playing with monkeys presents.
They were very good and although they went to bed later than usual, they behaved and went to sleep reasonably quickly.
Saturday saw us taking the monkeys plus one into town with Nana, who brought then all lunch in MacDonalds. Big monkey spent his birthday money in the toy shop and they had fun in the park. We took his friend home in the evening.
I had contemplated doing a party for him, but we couldn't decided on what type and for how many. Instead we took the monkeys to Legoland for the day Sunday.
Legoland was awesome, just like the last time we went, which incidentally was last year for his 5th birthday! It was busy of course, being the bank holiday weekend and Star Wars weekend, but the crowds didn't stop us doing what we wanted to.
This time our visit was made more special as both monkeys decided they were brave enough to have their photo's taken with the characters. Big monkey also had Happy Birthday sung to him right at the end of the day at the Fire Fighting School, and little monkey surprised us all and got his 'drivers license' at the Legoland Mini Driving School. We all left as the park closed, tired but happy and full of the day.
Bank Holiday Monday was spent with my parents who had come to stay for part of the celebrations. We all went to visit some relatives at their fab Kent countryside home. The monkeys love it there as they get to run around the grounds, collect eggs, sometimes drive my uncles tractor and we all get to eat fab tasting food. This visit did not disappoint! Made more wonderful by the fabulous sunshine!
I think it's safe to say, we had a great weekend. Big monkey had a weekend long birthday and is now a happy six year old, who is already taking about being seven next year! So pleased you had a fab birthday monkey!
