Dinosaur Roar - App Review

May 1st a new children's app launched. The Roarsome app brings iconic picture book to life!
The Dinosaur Roar app offers hours of storytelling, colouring and naming fun for young children.
"Inspired by the best-selling picture book Dinosaur Roar! the new Dinosaur Roar! app, created by Immediate Media Co, is a must for all young dinosaur fans. Using Paul Sticklands original designs and Henrietta Sticklands wonderful rhyming text, the app is aimed at 2-4 year old's and incorporates different storytelling functions, creative colouring options, as well as a fun ‘shake and name’ device."

We've been reviewing the app and so far little monkey is enjoying it! He especially loves the colouring. There are 14 dinosaur pictures to colour in and save. When little monkey completes each one, the dinosaurs roar! The name and shake feature is fun. You just type in a name, shake the device you are using and watch as your dinosaur name appears on screen. Mine came up as 'Mummy O Saurus'. The app has the option to mute the background sound or it can be played with it on. We've yet to review the reading section in depth, but you can see it has three different features. I can see this being a popular app with both monkeys, even the eldest at 6yrs old.

"The classic picture book Dinosaur Roar! by Paul and Henrietta Stickland, was first published in the UK in 1994 and has become a publishing phenomenon, with sales of more than five million books worldwide. As this iconic children’s title marks its 20th Anniversary, owners Nurture Rights have appointed Penguin Random House as the new publishers, and have also teamed up with the Natural History Museum to develop and market the Dinosaur Roar! brand. Dinosaur Roar! is the inspiration for a major new project for preschoolers being developed by Nurture Rights, in association with the Natural History Museum, with a percentage of royalties from sales of the app going to support the work of the museum." You can find information on the special 20th Anniversary edition and buy it here.
The Dinosaur Roar! iOS app is priced at £1.99 in the UK and available worldwide for download from iTunes
