Max and Tallulah - Book Buddies Book Review

We love receiving our book buddies books from Parragon books each month and were pleased to get our latest title 'Max and Tallulah a little love story' this month.
Written and illustrated by Beverley Gooding the story is about two zebra's Max and Tallulah. Max loves Tallulah but is too shy to tell her. She seems oblivious! As freinds Max sets out to try and woo her and in the end just needs to be himself. The story is lovely and highlights that you should just be yourself no matter what. The colours are striking, illustrations beautiful and I personally love this book.
Little monkey seemed to like listening to me reading the story to him and then big brother asked to read him the book at bedtime, and loved it too!

Big monkey asked what the 'blub' said on the back cover and who had written it! I found this very amusing and obviously something he has learned to look out for in school.
He found the story easy enough to read at age 6yrs and asked questions too. This book is lovely and so too is the story. You'll have to read it for yourself to see if Max gets his girl!

Find out about other titles from Parragon Books on their facebook, twitter and instagram accounts.

We were sent this book to review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Chipping Away!

Another week and another weigh-in in my quest to be 3.5st lighter. I weighed myself today and am now proud and delighted to say I have lost 2st since the middle of November.
Stupidly I did not take my meaurments until I started my detox in January but am also delighted to say I've lost a total of 17 inches since January the 22nd.
It's been a slow process and sometimes frustrating but I'm told the slower the better! I hope this is true. With the exercise as well, I'm sure I'm toning and adding muscle mass whilst reducing fat. I shall keep chipping away and feel this is a lifestyle change not just a fad.
The Fitbit and My Fitness Pal are still very much a feature in my everyday healthy eating and fitness regime. I'm loving sticking to target and seeing my progress each day!

The Basket Company - Review & Giveaway

Do you ever find you don't have enough storage for all your bits and pieces? The little things you accumulate as a family around the home. I'm constantly looking for extra storage especially as I like a home for everything! The Basket Company kindly recently sent me a selection of different storage basket solutions to review.
"The Basket Company, Natural, Stylish & Timeless Baskets in Willow, Seagrass, Rattan, Water Hyacinth & more" They sell all sorts of diffent shapes, sizes and types of baskets - laundry, pet, chests, log, storage, magazine and so on.
I've often looked at these stair baskets and thought how handy they would be. I tend to leave things placed on the stairs to take up next time I go and seem to be the only one in our house who actually takes the things up and doesn't just walk past them oblivious! The stair basket fits nicely at the bottom of our stairs and with it's large carry handle it's perfect for storing things in to take up stairs easily and comfortably when it next suits. The basket measures L 36cm x W 24cm x H 36cm (55cm with handle) and costs £30.
Having two flights of stairs in our house means the basket could live on either set and be handy to take things from the top floor down or visa versa! It's very well made and sturdy. I love the shabby chic style of it.
These rectangular storage baskets come in five different sizes. We were sent the large L 30cm x W 25cm x H 22cm (£14) and the medium/small L 21cm x W 17cm x H 12cm (£6) sizes. From the same range as the stair basket these look great and are very handy in our bedroom for my beauty bits and hairdryer. Again they are well made and offer a huge range of uses. I think they would look just a good for show in a bedroom or lounge but feel they are best used for our bits and pieces here!
The three baskets sent to us arrived very well packaged and very promptly. They look like they are made to last. I'm delighted with them. I've not found anything I would change or feel is negative.
You can win a Medimm Vintage Floral Wooden Storage Trunk worth £50 from The Basket Company.
All you have to do is complete the rafflecopter form below by the closing date and follow the T&C's on the form. The giveaway closes Midnight 11/03/15. Open to UK residents only. Good luck!

Project 365 Week 8

It's been a good week. Half term for us, so we've tried to do a few things and relax at home too. Not an easy task with two very lively monkeys! Everyone is better now and big monkeys face is healing really nicely.
Day 46. I'm loving my Valentines flowers which are still looking great.
Day 47. My Fitbit arrived and I'm hooked on it.
Day 48. What a glorious day. I love the sun and water and had to stop to take this photo.
Day 49. Friends from My Buggy Junction came over for the day and we went to the park!
Day 50. Very wet outside big monkey had a friend over, so they sorted their match attax cards.
Day 51. I asked the monkeys to smile for the camera as they were sitting so nicely together. Cue silly faces!
Day 52. The monkeys and I got out this morning. Although very cold on the estuary it was lovely!

So Much More Than Bath Time

JOHNSON’S® is carrying out it's first ever global campaign to show parents that bath time is so much more than just a bath. The multi- sensory elements to a bath are proven to aid better cognitive development for babies in their first 3 years.
  • 92% of mums in the UK say they are primarily responsible for bathing their children in their household
  • Parents in the UK bath their children for the longest amount of time (26 minutes) – the average bath takes 23 minutes, with the Philippines spending the least time washing their children (18 minutes)
  • Babies bathed with a fragranced product displayed:
  • 30% more engagement cues with their parent after the bath
  • Nearly 25% less time crying before sleep
  • Playing with bubbles helps babies develop hand-eye coordination
  • Splashing helps teach babies cause and effect
  • Listening to bath time music can help stimulate parts of the brain responsible for memory
Starting from when they were very young babies we used bath time to soothe the monkeys and afterwards during drying we would use baby massage techniques we had been taught to settle them both before bed.
As they got a little older the fun began with bath bubbles, beards and mohicans, as well as bath toys and bubble blowing games. We've always used bath time as part of the monkeys bedtime routine and to date they have always settled well to bed and slept well throughout the night. I'm sure the baths proved #somuchmore than just a bath. I love the findings from JOHNSON’S® below and agree that the smell of a newborn after their bath is something to savour.
Take a look at this video, so cute!

I think most parents would agree that bath time is so much more! I would, How about you? What do the Dad's out there feel? I know hubby feels it's a great bonding time with the monkeys!

A lovely campaign.

People Are Noticing

Well this week has been fab. I have a great new 'weight loss' aid and I'm loving it! My Fitbit ChargeHR arrived on Monday and I'm hooked. I've downloaded the app onto my phone, also the My Fitness Pal app and the two togther are in my opinion awesome.
I'm now able to keep track of the calories I'm taking in and that I'm burning and having the step tracker on the fitbit is definitely making me walk more!
In today's weekly weigh in I've lost another 1.1kg (2.3lbs). Until last night when I did two back to back classes, I hadn't actually been to the gym for ten days due to the monkeys being ill, then me and of course half term. It felt good to get back!
The other great thing is that people who've I've not seen in a while are noticing I've lost weight. One colleague at work looked twice and then said "You've lost weight haven't you!" It's always nice when people see your efforts are paying off!
In the meantime I'm going to continue to play with my new toy and will pop back next week to give you all an update!
